Nursing Assistant Program

ZCISD in conjunction with Laredo Community College started a Nursing Assistant Program in the 2011-2012 school year. The program is designed to prepare students with entry level skills required to work effectively in areas such as nursing homes, hospitals, physicans offices or health departments. The courses are held at Zapata High School and are part of the CTE Health Science Program as dual credit.
 
Juniors who are part of the CTE Health Science cluster and successfully completed the Medical Terminology class are given the opportunity to apply for the program..
 
Students who complete the year long program and meet all requirements will receive a Nursing Assistant Certificate and the opportunity to participate in the LCC graduation ceremony in May prior to the Zapata High School graduations.
 
An informational meeting is held for parents to discuss the complete details of the program along with parent, student and district
responsibilities.
