We will implement increased signage around campuses promoting disease mitigation strategies, increased cleaning and sanitation practices, as well as frequent reminders of hand hygiene and social distancing. Face coverings will be required for staff and students. Zapata Co. ISD will comply with all health and safety recommendations established by the Governor, the health department, and the Texas Education Agency. Safety and health measures may be adjusted based on current guidelines and conditions.
Yes. All staff members will receive COVID-19 prevention training prior to the opening of school (By August 1, 2020).  All students will receive instruction on health protocols related to minimizing the spread of COVID-19.
Zapata Co. ISD will maintain a 7-10 student/classroom ratio for Phase I and Phase II of the Back to School 2020 Plan. 
The District will be providing curbside meal pick up at three locations daily from 11: 00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The three locations are Zapata High School, Zapata Middle School and Zapata South Elementary. Delivery to Lopeno, San Ygnacio and Falcon will be scheduled daily. 
When on-campus instruction resumes, the District will provide student transportation daily.
A detailed plan regarding social distancing protocols will be posted soon. 
Currently the District has not approved a plan to reopen extracurricular activities. 
Students or staff who test positive for COVID-19 will be sent home to recover. When notification of a possible exposure occurs, in coordination with local health authorities, the campus/district will conduct contact tracing. Based on the results, a determination will be made as to whether an entire classroom or multiple classrooms are required to quarantine. In the event students are required to temporarily quarantine, the education of these students will continue through At-Home Learning for the duration of the quarantine period.
The District is currently developing a plan to address this concern. 
The District has two Online Learning Management Systems (LMS). SeeSaw from Pre-k-1st grade and Google Classroom  from grades 2nd - 12th.
Zapata County ISD provides the lower grade level students with iPads and for grades 2nd - 12th, the District has provided Chromebooks.  The District also will continue to provide needy families with mobile hotspots for at home internet access. 
Yes. The state's 90% Attendance Rule still applies for the 2020-2021 School Year. Attendance will be reported by the teacher documenting your presence in their respective Google Classroom and by showing daily progress either through assignments turned in electronically, log in reports from the District's LMS or by communication with the teacher through other means. 
Students may change their commitment at the end of the grading cycle.
