ZCISD is proud to announce that seventeen seniors from Zapata High School, in conjunction with Laredo College, have completed the course requirements for the Nurse Assistant (NURA) Program Certificate. The courses completed this semester allow students to obtain entry level skills required to function effectively as a Nursing Assistant in various settings such as nursing homes, hospitals, physicians offices or health department as well as public school systems. Instruction includes technical vocabulary development, communication skills, and hygiene and nursing procedures. They will now be preparing for the state certification exam approved by the Department of Aging and Disability. This program has been in existence at ZHS since 2011 and has produced many allied health professions.
