Special Education Mission Statement

We are committed to offering the necessary support, guidance, and resources to meet the individual needs of our students, empowering them to reach their highest potential and preparing them for their post-secondary goals.

Zapata County I.S.D. serves over 562 students in the Special Education Program. Our teachers, instructional assistants, diagnosticians, counselors, related services, and contracted personnel are committed to serving our students with special needs. Our varied services help support students with disabilities in the classroom and transition to post-secondary goals. We understand that we cannot reach these goals alone; hence, we value the partnerships we build with our parents/guardians, community, and varied providers. Zapata I.S.D. atiende a más de 562 estudiantes en el Programa de Educación Especial. Nuestros maestros, asistentes de instrucción, diagnósticos, consejeros, servicios relacionados y personal contratado están comprometidos a servir a nuestros estudiantes con necesidades especiales. Nuestros variados servicios ayudan a apoyar a los estudiantes con discapacidades en el aula y la transición a metas posteriores a la secundaria. Entendemos que no podemos alcanzar estos objetivos solos; por lo tanto, valoramos las asociaciones que construimos con nuestros padres / tutores, la comunidad y los proveedores variados. It is the policy of Zapata County Independent School District (“District”) not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, handicap in its programs, services or activities as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. The District shall provide equal opportunities to all individuals within its jurisdiction or geographic boundaries. Education Code 1.002(a) No officer or employee of a district shall, when acting or purporting to act in an official capacity, refuse to permit any student to participate in any school program because of the student’s race, religion, color, sex, or national origin. Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code 106.001 The District may not deny services to any individual eligible to participate in its special education program, but it shall provide individuals with disabilities special educational services as authorized by law. Education Code 1.002(b).

Es la política del Distrito Escolar Independiente del Condado de Zapata ("Distrito") no discriminar por motivos de raza, color, origen nacional, sexo, discapacidad en sus programas, servicios o actividades como lo requiere el Título VI de la Ley de Derechos Civiles de 1964, según enmendado; Título IX de las Enmiendas de Educación de 1972; y la Sección 504 de la Ley de Rehabilitación de 1973, según enmendada.

El Distrito no puede negar servicios a ninguna persona elegible para participar en su programa de educación especial, pero debe de proporcionar servicios educativos especiales a personas con discapacidades según lo autorice la ley. Código de Educación 1.002 (b). El Distrito Escolar Independiente del Condado de Zapata es un empleador que ofrece igualdad de oportunidades.
