Enrolling in ZCISD from Homeschool

Understanding the Transition from HOMESCHOOL to a PUBLIC SCHOOL

This guidance is intended for students who are not currently enrolled in a Public School and are being homeschooled.

Upon re-enrolling in a Texas Public School, accreditation status of the homeschooling program will be evaluated.  Course credits will be honored only if homeschool is an accredited program in Texas.

Parents must maintain a thorough record of their child’s academic progress and achievement.  Keep records of your homeschool experience including curriculum, course completion, student work samples, and grades.

Parents will be asked to submit these records upon re-enrollment into the District to assist with your child’s grade-level placement and/or credit checks.

Districts may place students in the most appropriate grade level according to a review of the curriculum, course of study, and work of the student coming from a homeschool environment. 2

Students will be asked to take appropriate assessments to evaluate existing competency in Reading and Math.
