Health Science

This cluster includes planning, managing, and providing therapeutic services, diagnostic services, health informatics, support services, and/or biotechnology research and development. This cluster allows students to investigate and observe a large variety of health care areas.

Students learn skills related to the health care industry such as taking vital signs, body mechanics, medical terminology, CPR and other entry level skills.

Clinical rotation and practicum courses allow students the opportunity to apply previously studied knowledge and skills at a local health care facility.

Dr. Galvan came in to speak to our 1st period Health Science Clinical and Principles of Health Science students. She is a 2011 graduate of Zapata High School and is now working at our local Gateway Clinic. She provided our students with useful information such as educational requirements, available scholarships, schools that offer dental programs and was also able to answer questions from the students.
