Parent and Family Engagement Policy & School-Parent Compact
Why These Documents Matter
In accordance with the Every Student Suceeds Act (ESSA), Section 1116, all Title I schools are required to develop and implement both a Parent and Family Engagement Policy and a School-Parent Compact. These documents are essential tools for building strong relationships between schools, families, and communities to support student success.
Parent and Family Engagement (PFE) Policy
The PFE Policy outlines how the school district and its campuses will actively engage families in their children’s education. It includes strategies to:
- Inform and involve parents in Title I programs
- Provide support and resources to strengthen family engagement
- Build capacity for effective school-family partnerships
The policy developed with input from parents and reviewed annually to ensure it meets he needs of families and supports student achievement.
School-Parent Compact
The School-Parent Compact is a shared agreement between the school, parents, and students. It describes:
- The school’s responsibility to provide high-quality curriculum and instruction
- How parents can support their child’s learning
- Ways students can take ownership of their education
This compact is a practical tool that helps clarify roles and expectations for everyone involved in a student’s academic journey.
